Once hunted to near extinction, the Sea Otter
has made a resurgence on the outer coasts of Vancouver Island. Spending
essentially its entire life in the water, it boasts one of the thickest fur
coats in the world.
Still considered an endangered species, they
are locally abundant in the Nuchatlitz area. However, there is proof of
some hunting beginning again.
