Waking early is one of the chores of guiding, but it does
bring some solace. I cherish the few moments alone, to relax, prepare for
the day, and listen to the morning marine weather report (hanging from tarp).
The large patch of Bull Kelp, just offshore, is a common sight
around Vancouver Island, and provides vital habitat to all manner of marine
life.
