Tofino was once the home of a Canadian Air Force base.
In the 1950's, while on training maneuvers, this bomber realized it was doomed.
In an attempt to lessen the potential damage upon crashing, they released their
small payload into the surrounding bog (the craters can still be seen today).
Due to its inaccessibility, the wreck has never been recovered.
